Simple but effective
This is not a high-tech machine but it's simple to set up, is light-weight, easy to use, is inexpensive and does the job. It's basically a bucket on wheels with a motor housed in the clip-on lid that enables one to suck up wet or dry material through a long hose. It's only draw-back is it's noisy, but ear muffs cancelled out the decibels. It doesn't have a big capacity for sucking up water but an automatic cut-out stops it over-filling. It's just the job for mopping up leakages from appliances or radiators or quickly sucking up spilled liquids from a carpet.
splutter splosh groan
sadly i've just had to package this up and return it. it worked fine as a dry vacuum cleaner, but when i used it to mop up water (having first, very wetly, washed the kitchen floor) it worked fine for a few minutes, then began to leak out rather more water than it was sucking up! it leaked the water out round the motor/lid. the instructions said, switch off immediately if that happened... so i did. i checked (several times) that the lid was correctly housed and clipped tight, but it wasn't there that the leak was happening, it was around the motor part. also, there wasn't much water in the drum, so it wasn't an overflow as such. it's a shame, because apart from that it seemed a nice, basic cleaner. no frills, only a short lead (slightly annoying), no ball bearings to swivel the tubes, nor a retractable lead - but it did ok, to begin with. however, i need it to mop up floodwater, and it has to be reliable. and this... certainly wasn't. perhaps it was just a one-off, but i'm going for a refund. maybe you get what you pay for?
